What to expect in your first session

1. The free consult (15 minutes)

A short video call. You tell me what's going on, I tell you how I'd approach it and whether I think I'm the right fit. No preparation needed, and no obligation to continue.

2. Before your first full session

  • You'll get an email with secure intake forms through Carepatron
  • You'll need to be in one of my eight states during each session: Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York or Washington
  • Find a private spot with decent internet, and headphones if you have them

3. The initial assessment ($200)

A longer first session. I'll ask about what brought you in, your history, your health, your relationships and what you want to be different. You don't have to share everything at once. "I'm not ready to talk about that yet" is a perfectly good answer.

Questions you might want to ask me

  • How do you usually work with this kind of problem?
  • How will we know if it's helping?
  • How often should we meet?
  • What happens if I want to try a different approach?

After that

Ongoing sessions are 60 minutes ($180), usually weekly or every other week. I'm in network with Anthem, Aetna and United through Alma, and I provide superbills for other plans. We'll check in regularly about whether it's working.

If you're nervous

That's normal. You don't need the right words or a tidy story. Plenty of people start with "I'm not even sure why I'm here."
