Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, with the therapy part done properly.

KAP in partnership with BetterU. They handle the medical side. I handle preparation, support and integration, so the experience turns into change you can keep.

How the partnership works

BetterU is a medical practice. Their clinicians do the medical screening, decide whether ketamine is appropriate for you, prescribe it and monitor your safety. I am your therapist: I do not prescribe, and BetterU makes all medical decisions.

What the therapy involves

  • Preparation. We clarify what you want to work on, set intentions, and make sure you have skills to handle whatever comes up.
  • Support around sessions. We plan the setting and the hours after, so you are not alone with it.
  • Integration. In the sessions that follow, we make sense of what came up and connect it to the rest of your therapy. This is where most of the lasting change happens.

Who it may fit

KAP is sometimes considered for treatment-resistant depression, trauma and PTSD, and for people who feel stuck after years of conventional therapy. It is not right for everyone. Some medical and psychiatric histories rule it out, and BetterU decides medical eligibility.

Cost

My preparation and integration sessions are billed at my standard therapy rate. BetterU bills separately for medical care and medication.

Questions

Do you prescribe ketamine?

No. BetterU handles screening, prescribing and medical monitoring. I provide the psychotherapy.

Can I do KAP if you are not already my therapist?

Usually we start with a few regular sessions first, so preparation is grounded in a real understanding of you.

Is KAP legal?

Yes. Ketamine is a legal prescription medication. It is used off-label for mental health, under medical supervision.

Is KAP covered by insurance?

Therapy sessions may be covered as psychotherapy. The medical portion is billed by BetterU, so check with them about cost.
